Do you need a pool filled? If so, let the fire company do it.
2010-07-31 - The Womelsdorf Volunteer Fire Company is again filling pools. A load of water equals 2500 gallons. Residents in Womelsdorf Borough are asked for a minimum donation of $50.00 per load. Residents in any other municipalities are asked for a minimum donation of $75.00 a load. This is a great way to help your local fire company raise much needing funding and at the same time we can help cool you down for the summer. To schedule a pool fill, you can call the firehouse at 610-589-4645 and leave your name and phone number stating you would like a pool filled and a member will call you back.

Operation Save-A-Life
2010-07-31 -

Free smoke alarms are being made available through a program coordinated by the Womelsdorf Volunteer Fire Company, the Pennsylvania Fire Commissioner and WFMZ-TV, Channel 69 News. The long-life lithium battery detectors are part of a grant program intended to help low income residents, the elderly, and families with children.

WFMZ-TV has dubbed the program, Operation Save a Life. The terms of the grant require local fire departments to physically install the detectors in residents' homes, and the Womelsdorf Volunteer Fire Company has volunteered to do the work.

There are a limited number of detectors available. In order to apply to receive free detectors, visit the WFMZ website at www.wfmz.com/sponsors/23003153/detail.html, or for a Spanish translation of the application form, go to www.wfmz.com/sponsors/23199039/detail.html.

If you are selected to participate in the program, you will be contacted by a representative of the fire department. Please ask for ID before allowing anyone into your home

Womelsdorf Assists at Carbon Monoxide Incident
2010-07-18 - On Saturday, July 17, FF Wann was at the firehouse doing maintenance when a Marion Twp. resident called the firehouse advising he believed his home had been filling up with carbon monoxide and that he and his family had symptoms of nausea and had headaches. The resident was instructed to call 911 to report the incident so the appropriate agencies could be dispatched.

The Marion Fire Co. along with Western Berks EMS were dispatched to 4050 Conrad Weiser Pkwy. at Fry's Motel and requested the Womelsdorf Fire Co. to assist with our gas meter. Attack and Engine 47 responded and upon arrival, found levels of carbon monoxide throughout the house even though the resident had attempted to ventilate it on his own by breaking a basement window and using his own fans. The cause of the carbon monoxide was traced to a malfunctioning furnace which was shut off until proper repairs could be made. All family members, including 3 children under the age of 4 were then evaluated by EMS and fire companies ventilated the structure.

This incident is just a reminder to all the area residents that we are 100% volunteer and to please call 911 to report emergencies such as carbon monoxide incidents. This incident could have had deadly consequences especially with young children if there would have been a delay in providing emergency services.
