Adopt-A-Hydrant |
|
2010-02-07 - The Womelsdorf Volunteer Fire Company would like to ask all residents and business owners in all municipalities affected by the recent heavy snowfall to "adopt" the closest fire hydrant nearest to their home or business. In order to ensure the most prompt and efficient emergency response it is imperative that all residents and business owners that are physically able, to "Adopt-a-Hydrant" by cleaning the area out around the hydrant, making the area free of snow and ice.
As the snow accumulates along the sides of the streets fire hydrants are being buried and are unidentifiable. If the fire trucks cannot see your fire hydrant, this could lead to valuable time being lost in the event of a fire when every second counts.
We need your help to keep up with these extreme snow conditions.
We would like to thank you in advance for helping to protect your community during this snow emergency. |

Fire Company Awarded Norfolk Southern Railroad Grant |
|
2010-02-01 - On Wednesday, January 27, 2010, Deputy Chief Garry Zerbe, Assistant Chief Ryan Zerbe, and Firefighter Mike McKeone represented the fire company as we were invited to attend a monthly Norfolk Southern Railroad safety meeting held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Wyomissing. The fire company was selected to receive a $1500.00 grant which will be used to purchase 5 "Vestanks" or water vests, which will replace metal "Indian tanks" that the fire company currently has in service. The Vestanks are used by firefighters to assist with extinguishing brush fires and are lighter, easier to wear, and take up less space when stored on our apparatus than the Indian tanks. The fire company would like to thank Norfolk Southern Corp. for the grant award and the dinner following the presentation. |
