Last night the WVFC placed our new to us 2007 Mack/Pierce tanker in service. The unit was purchased from the Fairfax County Fire/Rescue Department in Virginia at a cost of $216,000.
The primary purpose of this unit is water supply in rural areas without hydrants. If needed, the tanker can also function as a fire suppression piece should our engine be out of service. The tanker carries a multitude of equipment for water supply and engine company operations.
The 1989 International/4-Guys tanker will remain in service while the rest of our drivers finish getting qualified on the new tanker. It will be listed for sale in the coming weeks.
