On Saturday, April 22 strong storms moved through western Berks County and the Womelsdorf area was hardest hit.
The storms caused wind damage, including downed trees and utility poles, causing several road closures, as well as the loss of power for our area.
High winds downed several trees and fences and damaged numerous roofs of homes and buildings. A set of metal bleachers flipped over on the Conrad Weiser West Elementary School athletic field.
The WVFC handled 10 calls for service including several calls for trees down and transformer explosions, utility poles came down on Route 419 between Womelsdorf and Newmanstown. In addition, crews responded on a structure fire in Wernersville, a tree on a house in the 200 BLK of W. Franklin St. and an elevator rescue with two occupants trapped at the Henner Apartments in Womelsdorf.
Thank you to our mutual aid companies from the Robesonia and Marion Fire Companies for assisting us.
