The calls started early on St. Patrick's Day for the WVFC. At 0445 hours the WVFC was dispatched to assist Western Berks EMS with forcible entry into an apartment for a medical emergency.
Two hours later firefighters from Womelsdorf and surrounding communities were dispatched to 103 Park Place Circle for a house fire.

Ladder 47 arrived first with its crew going inside to begin investigating the issue. Engine 47 established a water supply from a nearby hydrant and stretched a dry line to the front door. Crews from Engine 52 (Marion), Engine 34 (Newmanstown) and Engine 31 (Keystone of Myerstown) covering for Engine 26 (Robesonia) provided manpower and Squad 33 (Richland) took the RIT assignment.
