This morning at 943am, the WVFC along with numerous mutual aid companies were dispatched to assist the Marion Fire Co. at 65 Main St. in the village of Stouchsburg, Marion Twp. for a house fire. Additional information from Berks DES advised the caller was the resident who admitted lighting his house on fire. A fire officer from Marion Fire Co. reported smoke showing and requested the 2nd alarm, bringing additional resources.
Local PD arrived on scene and was able to take the subject in custody as the first apparatus arrived on scene and went to work. The crews from Ladder and Engine 47 arrived and assisted with search and fire attack while Tanker 47 was assigned to supply water to Engine 34 (Newmanstown).
The WVFC remained on scene for 2.5 hours assisting with overhaul until being released.
