Today at 2147 hours the WVFC, Rescue 34, and EMS were dispatched to the 2800 BLK of Conrad Weiser Parkway in the area of CVS for a vehicle vs. pedestrian.

A Western Berks EMS unit who had a patient on-board from a previous incident came upon the accident and immediately began treatment of the injured pedestrian. Volunteers from Engine 47, Attack 47, and Rescue 34 set up lighting and assisted with patient care while fire police closed the westbound lanes of Route 422 between N. 3rd St. and E. High Street for the duration of the incident. The subject was transported by another Western Berks EMS unit to the Reading Hospital with severe injuries.

The fire companies and fire police remained on scene until PA State Police troopers completed their investigation.
