The Womelsdorf Volunteer Fire Company provides 100% VOLUNTEER 24 hour-a-day 7 days a week services in the form of fire suppression, rescue, Haz-mat, and fire prevention and education services to Womelsdorf Borough, Heidelberg Township, and surrounding communities. Primarily we serve almost 2900 residents in Womelsdorf Borough (.81 sq. miles) and share coverage of almost 1800 residents in Heidelberg Township (13.9 sq. miles) with the Pioneer Hose Company of Robesonia. (2020 US Census)  Our membership consists of approximately 40 active members of consisting of firefighters and fire police officers. Our apparatus includes a 1999 engine, a 1989 2500-gallon tanker, a 1997 105' quint, and a 2007 mini-pumper.

The areas where we provide automatic mutual-aid, mutual-aid, and Rapid Intervention Team (RIT) services make up almost 230 square miles and includes at least 18 municipalities. For these areas we are relied upon as the first or second-due truck company, our RIT team, as well as for suppression and water supply. We are one of only a few fire companies that provide RIT duties in Berks County and in neighboring Lebanon County.

Our primary and mutual-aid coverage areas include 19 miles of a Norfolk Southern rail line, which is a major traffic-way to the eastern seaboard, light industry, a natural gas-fired generating plant; natural gas and liquid propane storage facilities, and major petroleum handling facilities such as pipelines, ports, refineries, and terminals. Womelsdorf Borough and the surrounding areas serve as a bedroom community for employees traveling to their jobs in the areas of Reading, Lebanon, Harrisburg, and even Philadelphia-metro areas. However, a large part of our coverage areas consists of agriculture, agricultural-related industry or production, and agricultural assets. The agriculture of this area includes dairy, beef, poultry/egg, hog farms, and fruit and vegetable farms, as well as grain elevators and other associated agricultural infrastructure and makes up approximately 60-70% of our total coverage areas. These farms and businesses also store large amounts of fertilizers, pesticides, and chemicals to assist with production. Our area's agriculture production is a major supplier of food products to major mid-Atlantic metropolitan areas.

Mutual aid is provided to the following municipalities on a regular basis in Berks County: Marion Township, Tulpehocken Township, Jefferson Township, North Heidelberg Township, South Heidelberg Township, Lower Heidelberg Township, Bethel Township, Penn Township, Bernville Borough, and Sinking Spring Borough; and in Lebanon County: Millcreek Township, Jackson Township, Richland Borough, and Myerstown Borough.

Mutual-aid is provided to the following fire companies on a regular basis in Berks County: Marion Fire Company of Stouchsburg (Company 52), Western Berks Fire Department (Company 18), Keystone Fire Company of Rehrersburg (Company 27), Mt.
