On Wednesday, September 20 at 1954 hours, the WVFC was dispatched to assist the Western Berks FD with a building fire at Reading Alloys, 220 Old West Penn Ave. in South Heidelberg Twp.

Commissioner 18 arrived on scene confirming smoke showing and an active fire with titanium powder on fire inside a duct system. Ladder and Engine 47 responded and Ladder 47 arrived as the first-due truck company, with crews assisting with accessing and removing the duct work so the fire could be extinguished by Class D metal fire extinguishers.

The WVFC was back at station by 2300 hours.
