WVFC KEEPS BUSY WITH MULTIPLE CALLS AND A HOUSE FIRE

The WVFC ran four calls on the day after Thanksgiving but fortunately was nothing was serious.

0916 - Ladder 47 due for a fire alarm to the Wernersville State Hospital; cancelled en-route.
0957 - Ladder 47 due for rescue @ 595 N. Church St. in Heidelberg Twp. with a toddler with their leg stuck in a crib. L47 arrived on scene and was placed available with no services needed after personnel from Robesonia FC were able to free the child.
1249 - Ladder 47 due fire a fire alarm @ 19 Crossgate Ln in Heidelberg Twp., assisting Robesonia FC. Crews found the alarm was caused by cooking.
1738 - Engine and Ladder 47 responded for a reported brush fire endangering a house in the area of 100 Cocalico Rd. in Millcreek Twp., Lebanon County, assisting the Newmanstown FC. E47 supplied tank water and personnel assisted with overhaul after finding large controlled burn.


On Sunday, November 27 just before 7am the WVFC along with mutual aid from the Western Berks FD, Newmanstown FD, Richland FC for RIT, and Western Berks EMS were dispatched to 36 N. Wayne St. in Robesonia Borough for house fire, smoke in the basement.

Engine 26 with Chief 26 arrived on scene with smoke showing from the first floor of semi-detached home. Ladder 47 arrived taking side A and found a small outside fire against the rear of the home. Crews assisted with stretching an 1 3/4" line off of E26 to quickly extinguish the fire and checked for extension with the crew from E18-1 (WVFD) having to remove some of the siding and insulation. The fire was quickly placed under control and the assignment held to Companies 26 and 47. Crews monitored both homes for carbon monoxide and set up positive pressure ventilation fans to remove all smoke and carbon monoxide. The WVFC was on scene for about 1.5 hours. The fire is under investigation but does not appear suspicious.
