| On Friday, October 9 at 1:41pm, the WVFC along with Engine 26 from the Robesonia Fire Company were dispatched for an unknown injury crash in the 900 blk of W. Penn Ave. involving an overturned vehicle. Berks DES then upgraded the call to entrapment after receiving additional calls which added the Western Berks FD.
Upon arrival, initial crews confirmed two subjects trapped in an SUV on its side. After stabilizing the vehicle, crews went to work with multiple hand and rescue tools performing a roof flap to gain access.
The subjects were extricated in about 10 minutes and turned over to EMS where they were transported to a local hospital for treatment.
Fire police assisted with traffic control. South Heidelberg Twp PD which covers Heidelberg Twp. is investigating the crash.
