| This week the WVFC received notification that not one but two Regional FEMA Assistance to Firefighters Grants we were apart of have been approved for funding!
The first grant was hosted by the Kutztown Fire Department and other regional partners included the Blandon Fire Company and Cumru Twp. Fire Dept. The overall approved award is $188,078. Our portion of the award is $49,150 of which we are responsible for 10% matching or $4,915.
This funding will allow us to replace 4 thermal imaging cameras and three multi-gas meters.
The second Regional Grant was hosted by the Cumru Twp. Fire Department and included fire companies from Shillington, West Reading, and Bally EMS. The overall approved award is $451,135. Our portion of the award is $88,863 of which we are responsible for 10% matching or $8,886.
This funding will allow us to purchase 17 sets of turnout gear which includes helmets, coats, pants, boots, hoods, gloves and vests.
We'd like to thank our grant writer Bill Van Etten of BVE Grants for his assistance and expertise, the Kutztown and Cumru Twp. Fire Depts. for hosting the projects, as well as FEMA and our congressional representatives for continuing to provide funding for this highly competitive grant program.
The WVFC has benefited greatly from this program over the years receiving 12 awards and over $1.5 million dollars in funding for various equipment and regional projects. |
