This morning just before 6am, the WVFC was dispatched to assist the Keystone Fire Co of Myerstown with a barn fire at 300 Millardsville Rd., in Jackson Twp. just outside Richland Borough.
Ladder 47 and Tankers 47 and 47-1 responded. Tanker 47 arrived as the 2nd due tanker, operating as a nurse tanker until transitioning to tanker shuttle operations with numerous other tankers from Lebanon, Berks and Lancaster counties. Ladder 47 was positioned with Tower 31 for master stream operations to knock down the main bulk of the fire. Once that was accomplished, Ladder 47 was repositioned to check for extension to adjacent silos where it was confirmed there was active fire in both and assisted with extinguishing the same. Womelsdorf units were released around 10am. No animals were harmed in the fire.
