Just before 2:30 yesterday afternoon, the Robesonia and Womelsdorf fire companies were dispatched for a brush fire in the 800 BLK of Hill Rd.

Attack, Engine and Tanker 47 responded and along with Brush 26 found about a 1/4 of an acre of woods on fire. The fire was caused by open burning.

Mutual aid was requested from fire companies from Marion, Newmanstown, Western Berks and the Hamburg Forest Fire crew however the assignment was held to units from 26, 47, Marion Brush 52 and the forest fire crew for a sawyer after crews were able to quickly contain the fire.

Volunteers worked to extinguish and overhaul the affected area for about 2 hours. This was our 3rd call for the day.

Everyone is reminded there are still burn bans in effect for Heidelberg Twp. and Womelsdorf Borough.
